Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage serves as a sequel to Young Sheldon and a tangential prequel of sorts to The Big Bang Theory, at least when it comes to the timeline of the stories. The series picks up shortly after the finale of Young Sheldon and follows Sheldon's older brother, Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan), and his wife, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they navigate life as newlyweds and new parents in Texas.
The series comes from Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre, in addition to Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, who have also long been involved in various ventures in the Big Bang Theory TV universe. Less than two weeks after the premiere, the series earned a full season order from CBS. The network ordered nine additional episodes, bringing the Season 1 total up from 13 to 22 episodes, which means that Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will most likely air through the spring.
